My fable plan

Kia ora and welcome to my plan about my fable writing. I had so many good ideas but I thought that this one would be the best  plan ever. We had to make a moral lesson about life and mine was Treat others the way you want to be treated.I thought that was a very good for a Dog,Cat and turtle. My plan was to have a Dog that didn't like the cat and the cat ran away but then the turtle told the dog that the way you are treating her is that the way that you want to be treated. So yeah that is basically my story but it is going to be more simpler than that.

My holidays

 In the holidays I did a lot of really cool stuff and today I'm going to be sharing it with you. In the holidays we bought a new swing set ,we went to my auntie's, we had a few friends come over and I play Minecraft with my friends. When we got the big swing set at first I didn't know what it was but I was very happy that we have it because my sister loves it and so do I think my brother can also grow into it. when we went to my auntie's we play hide and seek we played families and a memory game. Locarno's family came over to our house and they played on our new swing set and they were excited that there was a swing set. I built lots of really cool things in Minecraft. I built an axolotl store, lots of big houses and a few more stores.

Olympics

This week the year 5 and year 6's have been watching a little bit of the Olympics. We have been doing Math, Writing and Inquiry about it and we have making little dioramas and posters about different Olympic sports. My sport that I am doing is gymnastics and I am going to making a diorama about it. I am going to be sharing with you my work that I have made about the Olympics but because the Olympics are over I am going to be sharing with you the work before this week.

Maths Work

 Measurement 

This week we have been doing measurement for math and it is so much fun. Yesterday we made a paper ruler and we had to make it 1 metre long. We went outside with the meter ruler and 5 things. My 5 things were, a net ball pole what is 3.5 m, the friendship bench which was 2.0 and are pole which was 2.5 m and sadly that's all I got to do cause we ran out of time but , this is what you need and how to make it.

What you need:

A4 paper

A one meter ruler / something one meter

Scissors ( with parental supervision

Tape

Steps:

1. You have to fold the A4 paper in quarters on the long side

2. Then cut on the 3 lines that will be crested from folding

3. Once you have 4 skinny pieces of paper then you tape three of them together

4. Place those three next to the meter ruler and measure if it is as long as it.

5.  Lastly if it is too short or long then you can add more on to it or take off less.

Waikowhai Student Led Toolkits

❤ Hello, I have another blog for you and this week it's about STEM week and you're probably wondering what stem week is. Well it stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths, in this blog I am going to be sharing what we did. 

On Friday the Middle school and Senior school came together and did Waikowhai Student Led Toolkits which is basically where you go and make a google slide and you pick one educational game or site and then we have a little description and the instructions for what that game or site that it is.

The first toolkit that I went to was Brain Box and Brain Box is basically just this little kit that has a bunch of cool gadgets and part that makes a lot of cool things like Propellers, Fans, working light bulbs and even your own radio and much more but those are some of things I made. It was so fun.

My second activity was Music Lab that was really fun as well. All you do is find the address bar on your device and write Music Lab in and guess what it's completely free. So then you can just click on one of the items that you want to make music on and then go for it make your music. And last but not least it was Book Creator. I think it was the most fun toolkit out of all of them because you got to create your own book. It was amazing. Book Creator and also another online thing that will get your mind and your creativity to the next level. Again like Music Lab all you have to is type in Book Creator in your search bar and then it should come up saying the Creator and that first link you click on you're there and then there are heaps of cool gadgets and stuff that you can fiddle with and try .

After that really cool experience for the three Toolkits I'm feeling really glad and happy and I would like to do this again one year.

Year 5 day

Yesterday we had a day where it was only year 5's in Te Waka Ako and Miss McGrath was our teacher. We got to do lots of fun things like Fortune tellers, and Wellbeing activities. At the end of term one, we did a Wellbeing survey on our Chromebook about if you have been bullied. In this blog I am going to show and tell you some things that we did and how to make a Fortune Teller. 

First we did a little bit of talking about the Wellbeing survey, mostly questions from the survey and some of the answers that were clear and easy to understand. Some of the questions included "Have you been bullied in school by students, staff or peers?". Some people on the server said that they have been bullied but when they went into the office to talk about it, they said that they did get teased or bullied but didn't feel like it was done in a mean way. People who said that, I don't think that they really understood the concept on if you had been teased. If you get teased once then It's not kind, if it happens 2 times then it's mean, but if it happens 3 or more times then it's bullying.

Once we had done that, we did a bit of exercise to warm up. After that we walked 

around Hauraki and Waitemata, Miss Mcgrath turned on music and then we started walking around. If she stoped the music then we had to get to the nearest person and tell them something that were thankful or grateful for. We had lots of fun. Once we had done that we moved on to the Fortune tellers. Here is a photo and a video of how to make a fortune teller.

Siloet Art

Hey bloggers 

These couple past weeks we have been dong silhoeuette art, and great news I got my finshed mine yesterday! It took like maybe 6 - 7 days to get it finished but it's worth it in the end because it looks so nice, neat and tidy. My shape was a ballerina with it's hands curving in.

These are the steps to doing it.

1.First of all you have to have a planning space and then you can make up some movements to draw.

2.Then once you've made your movement and you're happy with it you can grab a big piece of paper and stencil that movement on a window.

3.So when you're happy whether you can grab a black marker or a vivid and colour in the stencil/movement.

4. Once you've done that you can get your pencil again and make a bunch of lines around the thing.

5. Once you're happy with your lines then you can basically get any colouring pencils or pens and colour in the lines and heat tranferring colours (from hot to cold). Then your basically done. Later Bloggers👋😙

Swimming Leasons

In Waitemata we have been doing swimming leasons with our teacher, Miss Daly. We do the swimming in our school pool. Whenever we get fun challenges or we get free time in the pool I always so excited because my friends are all in my class this year. Having swimming lesons in the pool is very fun and it helps me to swim better because I am not very good at swimming especially when we have to go under the water for about 5 seconds. One of the things that we did was did was play captins coming. So how you play is 

• Scrub the decks: crew members get on their hands and knees and pretend to scrub the deck.
• Man overboard: crew members find a partner, hold hands and pretend to row a boat.
• Climb the rigging: crew members pretend to climb a rope ladder.
• Captain’s coming: crew members salute and say "aye aye captain".
• Shark attack: crew members must not touch the ground. At the beach you could stand on a towel.
• Hit the deck: crew members lay face down on the floor.
• Captain's wife: crew members curtsey.
• Four corners: there are four corners of the ship: back, front, left and right. Use something to mark each corner. When the captain yells out a corner all crew members must run to it. Goodbye Bloggers ✋

Under the wires

Hi Bloggers, on the 14th of April we had a under the wires day. So basically I wasn't even aware of this. All the teachers were wearing black and they had green, orange and black face paint.

Firstly all the whole senior syndicate was in Manukau and we were all so exited because there were lots of wires all along Hauraki and Waitemata. We had to crawl through a called no mans land and then we had to crawl though lasers/strings to get our box and to find our space on the mat. When we had gotten everything sorted the teacher's gave out basic facts tests and they were under gunfire so it go me distracted but I wasn't that bad of a distraction I mean I got 53 right so it really actually wasn't that bad. 

After the basic facts test we had to do Anzac maths 

witch is basically where we decide to write down some times tables and we have to awnser them. Once again they put on gunfire but not for very long.

Afterwards we had done the basic facts test and the ANZAC maths we had fruit break and we did some exercise. For fruit we all had pears and for some exercise we didn't push ups and yoga and stretches

Once we head finished from fruit break and exercise we had wrote a letter from the trenches to our parents. and this is what mine said.

Dear Whanau

A life in the trench is hard without you guys. I hope you have been staying safe. Everyday I have been in the trench for I’ve been thinking about you. Our only diet is Canned beans YUCK! but I guess that that's better than nothing. I’ve been shot in the arm but luckily my friends have taken care of me and cared and helped me heal. I miss you and I would love to come home but I have to do what I have to do which is also save you because they will want all the land and take it if we don’t defend.when we're underground in the trenches there are rats the size of cats. I miss you guys, love you

Picasso Self-portrait Art

 Hello bloggers,

 Last week we did started a Picasso self portrait and this week I got it finished so, I'm going to tell you all the steps on how to make one yourself.

For this you need paper, colouring pencils and pen or a pencil. 

Well first we watch the video on how to do it. And in that video they showed us that you just had to do the outline and then at the end they coloured it but colouring is the best part of the whole pictures so you can colour at however you would like it. Once we had finished the outline then you had to show the teacher and if she/he said it was good then you could start colouring, but you can't leave any white in between the colouring cause it has to be bright like actual Picasso portrait. Mine came out really great and bright. I did geometric shapes but you can do any other shapes you want you can do zigzags, circles, waves or even little images. I really like mine but if I could change one thing it would have probably be the vivid that we had to go around the shapes with but after the colouring you had to show your teacher you're finished thing and then she/he would let you know if you could do the vidvid or not. Pretty much the vivid you were finished.

Lockdown 4

So bored of being at home 

Hey bloggers,

In the previous lockdown that we had we took our chrome books home and had some tasks to do like art, maths, slideshows, writing and some other fun things, and now I'm going to tell you all about it. In the lockdown I did a task called the lockdown slide diary and I manged to finsh it befor I came back to school. In the slideshow we're tasks that we had to do like take walks and watch movies and then after all that setting from watching the movie we had to do some exercise outside but on that day it was raining so I just did some exercise inside. 20 lunges, 5 laps around the house, 40 star jumps and 15 push-ups, after all of the exercise I was sweating so much so then after that I had a freezing cold shower. After all of that I felt really relieved that it done my work for the week but then also I can't super annoyed with my sister because I couldn't get away from her because I was stuck at home for a hole week. I think my favourite school activity though was the art that we got to do for extras. My favourite family activity was watching the movie Trolls with my family. I feel very excited and happy to be back at school because I can play with my friends and see my teacher again.

Summer Learning Journey Colouring Book

Hi bloggers we have been learning about the summer learning journey and we got a task from our teachers called the summer learning journey colouring book. It was very fun. But so you know what we did I'm going to go through the steps with you. Step.1 you had to go onto the website and then pick the picture that you wanted to colour in. They're a bunch of pictures that you could pick but I picked a really simple one since it was my first time trying it.Step.2 The pictures already have the colours with them so you could pick if you wanted to make the original picture with the same colours or if you wanted to design your own with different colours.I did my own design. Step.3 you could try and make as many pictures as you want using your own design all the same but we only had 10 minutes to do it and I managed to get five in the 10 minutes but I'm going to show you 1 of the designs that I did.

Athletics day

I'm so tired !Goodentarg bloggers. On the 27th of October, our whole school participated in athletics day. As you can see it was very fun but very tiring.I want a lot of the things like long jump high jump and I almost won running.It was so much fun.My favourite one out of all of them would probably have to be high jump because I can jump quite high and I won it. So yeah I guess it's just my thing.In my group I was in the eight year old girls.I had quite a lot of my friends and my group.Like my friends Anna, Madeline, Londyn, Josie,Zara,Hannah and Jaycee plus some more of my friends but yeah those general friends that I have.If you saw up at the start of my blog it says I'm so tired which was right I was exhausted. At the end of the day my auntie came and picked me up with my grandfather.Goodbye bloggers I have you enjoyed this post. Peace out

Mangere Mountain Trip

 Hi bloggers,On Monday we (The Middle School) had a trip to Te Pane O Mataoho. Firstly we walked into the education centre.we had Teachers called Ellie and Leilani and they are welcomed us with a karakia and a karanga.We learned lost of interesting things about the past and what the maori people used to do. After they had welcomed us we had a 20-minute morning tea break and ate some morning tea. After that we had to walk up the mountain we got split up into about ✋groups. I was in a group with this lady called Kristin and she was leading our group.it was so much fun going on Monday at a mountain because we got to experience a lot and what the people have eaten in the past like fish,dog,scorpions and many more other things.I really hoped you like this blog post .Peace out bloggers.

Scratch art

 Hi bloggers, for these last 2 weeks we have been doing scratch art. On 7th of dec/Monday we had a special guest come in to teach us more about the art and her name was Ella.She had just finished her first year at University. She told us some good tips about what to do with the art.One of the tips was that we had to scratched it when it was wet that helped my design look a lot better.Here are some of the steps that she told us to do and in what order.1.We first had to make a background and a plan of what colors we were going to put on the brown piece of paper that we were doing it on 2.Then we had to make another plan which has the things that we are going to scratch out and the theme was space. 3.then if you were sure you are happy with your design and all of your background colours then you coloured the brown piece of paper in your with pastels and made the background.4 After that we got to show the teachers and if they  approved it then they would let us roll black paint over the piece of paper.5 Last but not least they would tell us to bring or art over to the Moon table or the jelly bean table and then start scratching our design when the paint is still wet.My piece of art turned out really well and I like the tip on scratching your design when the paint is still wet.I hope you guys liked this blog if you did leave a comment. 

A day off school.

Hi bogger's. It was the 19 of november yesterday. I did not go to school because I had my uncle come over to my aunty's  house. He came all the way from the USA.


In the morning I got ready to  go to breakfast. We had eggs and cake.We even had this nice cold smoothie.In mine it was strawberry flavor and it had whipped cream on it.It was scrumshis. The cake was chocolate cake.It was better than ever.


Do not forget about the eggs. They were hurting my tummy a bit but they  still were good. I wanted to go somewhere because I was bored but I had my cousin and her name is Koragrace she is super cute and a toddler. I felt very  weird after that ,but I was fine.

Skateboarding

On the 13th of November friday the middle school had Skateboarding skills. It was amazing to learn lots of new tricks. We did a crabwalk and tikitakas and lots of other really cool tricks. They were really cool to learn because my dad has a skateboard and I can learn from it. It was very fun for everyone because we got to learn new tricks that I have never learnt before.I skateboard lots at home but sometimes I fall over but if I do I don't give up I just try again.  Our school waikowhai primary has a production that we perform every two years last week we had 5 performances of Jasmine and Aladdin at the Waikowhai Intermediate school hall.Today I'm going to share that with You. My class did a dance and our song was called magic carpet ride. We had lots of fun there. I felt very nervous,everyone was looking at me.(I'm sure I wasn't the only one who was nervous)Good luck my friend said.As my class walked out onto the stage I got even more nervous my stomach and butterflies in it.just as I was walking up onto the stage I felt a little bit queasy but as I started to dance then I had a bit better because everyone was sharing for us and I know they were looking at us but I tried to be as brave as I could so then I started to feel a bit more come and relax so I'm not so tensed and being so much of a scaredy cat but then it came to me they're not just looking the are actually cheering for us.Well that's all I have to say thank you for listening into my blog.     Bye 👋

Rocket experiment

On the 22/9/20 and 23/9/20 we did an experiment on Rockets.You got to choose whether we were working in buddies or if we just wanted to work by ourselves.I worked by myself.We got given avery hard challenge but to me it was very very easy and now I'm going to take you so step-by-step how we made it. Firstly we got a piece of rectangle paper and you can choose which colour you want it to be I my piece of paper to be red. Then what you need to do is get a circle piece of paper or cut a circle out and then you the circle in half but don't cut it all the way just cut it to halfway. If it's easy you can draw a line so you know where to cut.for the next step you will need some pieces of tape and you will probably need 2 -3 pieces. Then what you need to do is take the circle that you cut out and that has the line on it then you need to fold it around so the cut line is cutline is folded around so it will be like a cone kind of shape.then what you need to do is do you remember the piece of rectangle paper yeah you will need that now and try and get a pump and then find something you can wrap the piece of paper or around with so it goes into a cylinder then you will need like again two to three pieces of tape and then you can then what you need to do is do you remember the piece of rectangle paper yeah you will need that now and try and get a pump and then find something you can wrap the piece of paper or around with so it goes into a cylinder then you will need like again two to three pieces of tape and then you  will make a then what you need to do is take the cone that we made earlier on to the cylinder with double sided tape or you can glue it down using a glue stick hot glue or you can use PVA glue or school glue is up to you.Once you've glued them down, you need to make little details  for example you could make like a window that comes out of a space rocket or you could make the panel / the fins on the side.once you've glued them down then you need to make little details surfer example you could make like a window that comes out of a space rocket or you could make the panel / like the fins on the side. Also if you want you can have a pump and try out the rockets and sea if it flies but when I tried to do mine it did not work at all it failed.That was the some information and some steps on what we have been doing.Peace out bloggers
