Year 5 day

Talofa lava Bloggers✌

Yesterday we had a day where it was only year 5's in Te Waka Ako and Miss McGrath was our teacher. We got to do lots of fun things like Fortune tellers, and Wellbeing activities. At the end of term one, we did a Wellbeing survey on our Chromebook about if you have been bullied. In this blog I am going to show and tell you some things that we did and how to make a Fortune Teller.

First we did a little bit of talking about the Wellbeing survey, mostly questions from the survey and some of the answers that were clear and easy to understand. Some of the questions included "Have you been bullied in school by students, staff or peers?". Some people on the server said that they have been bullied but when they went into the office to talk about it, they said that they did get teased or bullied but didn't feel like it was done in a mean way. People who said that, I don't think that they really understood the concept on if you had been teased. If you get teased once then It's not kind, if it happens 2 times then it's mean, but if it happens 3 or more times then it's bullying.

Once we had done that, we did a bit of exercise to warm up. After that we walked
around Hauraki and Waitemata, Miss Mcgrath turned on music and then we started walking around. If she stoped the music then we had to get to the nearest person and tell them something that were thankful or grateful for. We had lots of fun. Once we had done that we moved on to the Fortune tellers. Here is a photo and a video of how to make a fortune teller.

  1. Kia ora Kiara. What a great idea to include a video as well as a photo. That way other people can have a go at making a Fortune Teller themselves. I like how you clarified what bullying is for your readers. The definition I used to use was, 'many times on purpose.' Would you agree with that definition?

  2. Hi Kiara, thanks for summing up our morning in your detailed recount! I like your explanation of bullying, and I think you're right, when we completed the survey there was a little misunderstanding about this. I'll be sure to explain it more clearly next time. Could you add to your blog to explain how the fortune tellers fit in with our theme of Wellbeing that morning?
